PISOX copolyesters

A high-barrier polyester that stays rigid above the temperature every other biobased polyester gives up at, and breaks down by design when its use life is over.

60-100% BIOBASED MOULDED INTO PARTS

At an earlier stage than PICT and PEIF, and aimed at what the commercial grades cannot serve: parts that have to take heat, and parts that have to break down where they are used.

What it is.

Chemistry

Poly-isosorbide oxalate

Biobased content

60 to 100%, biobased or CO₂-based

Glass transition, Tg

100 to 167 °C, depending on composition

Barrier

High. PISOX-DEG blocks 35× more oxygen than PLA

Biodegradation

Home-compostable in a few months; degrades in seawater in under a year, tunable by composition

IP status

Two patent families, on the PISOX diols and the PISOX diacids

Stage

Grant-funded application development

Where it goes.

OffshoreComponents that must not persist in the marine environment.
AgricultureFilms and parts designed to degrade in soil.
Barrier packagingContents that need oxygen protection without a fossil barrier layer.
Hot partsWhere dishwashing, hot-fill or steam sterilisation rules out other biobased polyesters.

Pre-commercial. Any material can be made available from our own pilot plant at ~50 kg scale. If one of these applications is on your roadmap, the earliest conversations are the useful ones.
